Today Art Museum is pleased to announce the first major institutional solo exhibition in Asia of French artist Isabelle Cornaro. The exhibition, titled "Isabelle Cornaro Solo Exhibition" will be presented at Hall 1 of Today Art Museum from May 26, 2024, to July 14, 2024.

Isabelle Cornaro is a multifaceted individual: she is a contemporary artist, curator, and educator. With a strong background in art history, Cornaro's works explore various representational systems and symbols within art history, challenging the audience's perception of artworks. Her creative mediums include painting, sculpture, installation, and film. Often through meticulously arranged juxtapositions, she pays homage to traditional forms of expression and reinterprets them. Cornaro excels at seamlessly integrating traditional forms with modern concepts, presenting a unique aesthetic experience. Her cross-cultural background and the thoughtful, speculative, and historically rich nature of her works have made Cornaro a prominent figure in the contemporary art world.

Curated by Damien Zhang, this exhibition features a panoramic display of 27 works across four major series, showcasing Cornaro's iconic large-scale sculptural installations and her explorations in painting and video. The exhibition reviews over a decade of the artist's creative career and includes a newly completed, large-scale site-specific installation being unveiled for the first time.

The year 2024 marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France, and it is also the China-France Year of Culture and Tourism. Isabelle Cornaro's works, which transcend time and space and cross borders with their charm, promote international artistic exchange and build a bridge for cultural dialogue between China and France. This exhibition is a key project of the 18th Festival Croisements, injecting new vitality into the cultural dialogue between China and France.

On May 25th, at the opening of the "Isabelle Cornaro Solo Exhibition" at Today Art Museum, Nicolas Pillerel, Minister Counselor for Cultural, Educational, and Scientific Affairs of the French Embassy in China, awarded Jessica Zhang, Director of Today Art Museum, Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, an honor in the field of French arts and literature. This award recognizes Jessica Zhang's outstanding contributions to promoting French and global culture in the arts and acknowledges her efforts in fostering cultural and artistic exchanges between China and France.
