U.S.-listed Chinese companies traded mostly lower on Wednesday, with six of the top 10 stocks by weight in the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index ending the day on a downbeat note.

Shares of NetEase, and Ctrip declined 1.80 percent and 1.33 percent respectively, leading the laggards of the top 10 stocks.

Shares of TAL Education Group and New Oriental increased 5.78 percent and 1.04 percent respectively at the closing.

U.S. stocks closed mixed on Wednesday as investors digested a slew of economic data and second-quarter earnings reports.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average increased 79.40 points, or 0.32 percent, to 25,199.29. The S&P 500 increased 6.07 points, or 0.22 percent, to 2,815.62. The Nasdaq Composite Index decreased 0.67 points, or 0.01 percent, to 7,854.44.

As of Tuesday, the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index stood at 3,269.20, marking a 2.17-percent increase for the month-to-date returns and a 5.76-percent gain for the year-to-date returns.
